DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH WITH 5 TENSE



 ·      DEFINITION DIRECT SPEECH
-       Direct speech repeats, or quotes, the exact words spoken. When we use direct speech in writing, we place the words spoken between quotation marks (" ") and there is no change in these words. We may be reporting something that's being said NOW (for example a telephone conversation), or telling someone later about a previous conversation. 

·       CHARACTERISTIC OF DIRECT SPEECH
-        quotation marks (" ") have to be used in a direct speech 

·       DIRECT SPEECH USING SIMPLE PRESENTS
-        He said, "I go to school every day." 

·       DIRECT SPEECH USING PRESENT CONTINOUS
-        He said, "I am going to school every day." 

·       DIRECT SPEECH USING PRESENT PERFECT
-        He said, "I have gone to school every day." 

·       DIRECT SPEECH USING SIMPLE PAST
-        He said, "I went to school every day." 

·       DIRECT SPEECH USING FUTURE TENSE
-        He said, "I will go to school every day."  


DEFINITION  INDIRECT SPEECH-        Indirect speech is also called reported speech. It is used to communicate what someone else said, but without using exact words
 ·       CHARACTERISTIC OF INDIRECT SPEECH
-        Quotitation marks are not used in indirect speech. Sometimes an indirect speech will use a reporting verb such as tell, ask and say
 ·       INDIRECT SPEECH USING SIMPLE PAST
-        He said (that) he went to school every day. 

·       INDIRECT SPEECH USING PAST CONTIOUS
-        He said (that) he was going to school every day. 

·       INDIRECT SPEECH USING PAST PERFECT
-        He said (that) he had gone to school every day. 

·       INDIRECT SPEECH USING SIMPLE PAST
-        He asked me if I went to school every day. 

·       INDIRECT SPEECH USING PAST PERFECT
-        He said (that) he had gone to school every day.
